It has been more than a year since we saw Deepika Padukone on the big screen last in the controversial Padmaavat and now after almost a year, we will get to see her act in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak. Deepika’s next has been in a tremendous buzz, for she has kept her fans waiting for long now.
Last month, the makers of the movie dropped Deepika Padukone’s first look as Laxmi, the acid attack survivor around whose inspiring life the movie has been made and it was appreciated hugely on the social media. Now recently, a kissing scene from the movie’s sets featuring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey too has leaked online. This is a part of several leaks from their Delhi shoot.
Here, have a look at the video of the two standing on the rooftop:
Apparently, this is not the first leak from the shooting. Earlier, a photo of Deepika in a school uniform too was doing the rounds online and later, a shot of Deepika as Malti (Laxmi’s character name in the movie) on the streets made its way online.
Nevertheless, Deepika is nothing but proud to be a part of this project. When she was asked about her thoughts on this extraordinary film, she shared her feelings by saying,
“It is a proud moment for all of us, we are overwhelmed. In the six months since Meghna offered me ‘Chhapaak’, we have been through so much, from look tests and casting to the readings. And while it’s all creatively satisfying, I can’t wait to be on the set because no matter how much you prep, what happens there is something else. So, there’s a sense of excitement and also some nervous jitters that everyone in every department faces for the first three-four days into the shoot, till we all get a hang of the characters and the bond between unit members cements. But the nervousness is positive energy.”
Meghna Gulzar, the director of super successful movies, both commercially and critically, Raazi and Talwar will be coming up with this another real-life story of Laxmi who was attacked with acid at the age of 15 but her unconquerable human spirit made her win at life, for she now runs an NGO Chhanv Foundation which ensures a better lifestyle to all the acid attack survivors. Deepika Padukone herself runs an NGO Live Love Laugh Foundation, founded in 2015, for creating mental health awareness after battling depression herself.
The first look seems promising and makes us believe that Deepika fits just right for the role. Chhapaak is jointly bankrolled by Fox Star Studios, Deepika Padukone’s KA Entertainment, and Meghna Gulzar’s Mriga Films and will hit the theaters on 10th January 2020.
