Deepika Padukone’s Sports Legend Choice to Portray in a Biopic Will Bring a Smile to Your Face

During an interview to a daily, Deepika Padukone revealed that she would like to play the formal role of this legendary sports personality. Read below for his name.

It has been the season of biopics in B-town for a while now. Several B-town biggies have portrayed many real-life characters be it legendary sports personalities to politicians and more. At present, one of the most awaited sports biopics in the pipeline is Kabir Khan‘s upcoming directorial ’83 which is based on India’s historic win at the Cricket World Cup 1983. In this movie, Ranveer Singh will be playing the role of legendary cricketer and 1983 World Cup Indian Cricket Team Captain Kapil Dev.

Moreover, his wife and Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has been roped in to play the role of Kapil’s wife Romi Dev in ’83, to bring in that real-life couple spirit. She has even begun the shoot with her husband in London.

During an interview with Bombay Times, when Deepika was asked about the sports personality in whose biopic she would like to star in, she mentioned her dad and legendary badminton player i.e. Prakash Padukone’s name in the very first sentence (Very Much Expected).

These were her exact words,

“I understand the gender issue (smiles). But if I had to play a sports person, then it would be him or any sports legend from that era. That’s because of what they achieved in the circumstances, within the limited exposure and knowledge versus the kind of funds, facilities and visibility available to athletes today. But inspite of all that, to achieve that greatness and legendary status is commendable. Our yesteryear athletes inspire me.”

When it comes to Kabir Khan’s Kapil Dev biopic, it is set to release on April 10, 2020. Apart from that Deepika will be seen in a Biopic: Chhapaak that is her home co-production, and it will be helmed by Meghna Gulzar. In this movie, she plays the role of an acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal.
