The Jagga Jasoos director, Anurag Basu is planning to make Imali which was earlier supposed to cast Kangana Ranaut. Now, reports suggest that he had decided to replace her with Deepika Padukone. And now, he has talked about the subject and shares whether we will see her in his next or not.
Before that, he cleared that his upcoming next with Abhishek Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao is not a sequel to his 2007 romantic-drama: Life In A…Metro. Described as a dark comic anthology, it will feature Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh on silver screen.
Adding to it, Anurag says that other than the fact that the film will have four intersecting stories like Life In A…Metro, this new project is entirely different. His words in exact were,
“The genre is different. ‘Life…’ had drama, a love story and it revolved around multiple stories about relationships. This is not that. This film has a bit of crime and black humor in it. The only common thing is all four stories are intersecting and affecting each other. I don’t want to confuse the audience and call it as a sequel to ‘Life..'”
This Bollywood director also said that he had a great time working with a stellar star cast on the project, which will mark a reunion of sorts for Fatima and Sanya after their 2016 blockbuster Dangal. He said,
“They are both fabulous. I had the baggage of ‘Dangal’ while casting them. But their characters are completely different in this film. They will surprise you.”
Basu says that the film’s shooting will be wrapped up in the next 10 to 15 days after which the post-production work will begin. The film will hit the silver screens in February next year.
After that, Anurag will begin working on Imali, which initially had Kangana Ranaut as the lead. But she quit the project over date issues. Basu says,
“We were supposed to start in November but we couldn’t because she got busy with ‘Manikarnika‘ and ‘Panga’. Even I got busy with my other film. She wanted to be in good space and time to do this film but things didn’t work out.”
Then came reports that Deepika will be her replacement. But Anurag said that nothing is confirmed till date. His exact words were,
“I cannot confirm till she confirms anything. I did meet her. She has to confirm it to me and then we can confirm it to others.”
Anurag Basu, who is also a dance reality show host in present, that goes by the name Super Dancer, gave all these above statements on the sidelines of the show’s finale that will be aired on coming Sunday i.e. 23rd June.
