#BoycottFilmfare is trending high on twitter as a lot of Bollywood fans are questioning the program’s credibility.
Immediately after the results of Filmfare Awards 2020 were announced, Twitter roared in the offence as a lot of movies except Gully Boy were snubbed and they felt that there were more deserving candidates.
Filmfare Awards 2020 has been broadcast on Television. The show has given a major chunk of awards (as many as 13) just to ‘Gully Boy’ and its cast and crew. Not only movies but as per Twitter, some deserving candidates too felt humiliated. They doubted the program’s credibility.
Filmfare Awards won’t be the 1st award show to draw ire for its choices. A lot of award shows around the world face the heat when a single participant is awarded a major chunk of awards.
Since the very beginning, every movie except ‘Gully Boy’ felt insulted because of Gully Boy‘s female lead: Alia Bhatt getting an award for ‘being there only for half time in the movie’, Twitter called out Filmfare Awards 2020. Both ‘Gully Boy’ and ‘Filmfare Awards’ were trolled as Twitter compared to how normal people look at ‘Gully Boy’ and how the awards show looks at the film.
Some people even pointed out Ranveer Singh’s win for best actor in a leading role, what has made Twitter most upset is ‘Apna Time Aayega’ winning the best lyrics award in comparison to ‘Teri Mitti’. The lyricist of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Kesari’ movie’s song ‘Teri Mitti’ Manoj Muntashir had also slammed the awards show and took an oath on social media to never attend awards shows thereon.
Here’s some tweets showing how Twitter trended #BoycottFilmfare:
