Bollywood is one of the largest movie producers in the world. It produces about 1500 to 2000 movies a year. More than half of the year is over and 2018 so far has been very okay-ish in terms of the content it served. But August has a great lineup of movies ahead andso, we have listed down below Bollywood movies which will release in August 2018.
1. Fanney Khan
Fanney Khan starring Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya RaiBachchan, Rajkummar Rao and a debutante named Pihu Sand will be coming to theatres this weekend on August 3. The movie is based on an aspiring singer who wants to make it big and become a playback singer in Bollywood. Anil Kapoor is playing her father and Aishwarya is playing an established singer in Bollywood. The movie is said to be based on a Dutch film called Everybody’s Famous which was released in 2000.
Netizen’s favourite, Mithila Palkar will be entering Bollywood with this comedy-drama with Dulquer Salman and Irrfan Khan in the lead roles. The trailer of the movie looked promising and the trio will be taking us in an interesting Karwaan on the 3rd of August. The three of them seem to share an amazing chemistry. The movie is directed by Akarsh Khurana who also happen to be playing a doting father in TVF’s trending web series ‘Yeh Meri Family’, quite a multi-talented man! This would be the first Irrfan Khan movie post his tumour announcement.
Rishi Kapoor is back on the big screen along with Taapsee Pannu, Prateik Babbar and Rajat Kapoorin an intense courtroom drama, Mulk which will be releasing this weekend on August 3. The last time Taapsee was in a courtroom drama was in Pink where she was behind the witness box playing a victim but this time she will be charging from the front, as a lawyer. And Rishi Kapoor will be seen in a yet another challenging role of an Indian Muslim man fighting to reclaim his honour after his close relative is convicted to be a terrorist. The movie is based on true events which makes it more interesting.
4. Satyamev Jayate
John Abraham lately have been doing films which matter, which help in starting the right conversations and ultimately help in bringing some change and Satyamev Jayate is another such attempt. Directed by Milap Zaveri, in this movie John is playing an unafraid cop who decides to hold the criminals by their horns. Starring Manoj Bajpai, Aisha Sharma and Amruta Khanvilkar, the movie is slated to release on 15th August this year.
Gold is a historic drama set up in 1948 when India was still struggling to find its ground post Independence. This movie will unravel the story of a man who dreamt of bringing a Gold medal in Hockey in the Olympics for India as a free nation. Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy’s movie has already created a buzz and is sure to please the audience once it releases. It will be clashing with John’s Satyamev Jayate as Gold will also be releasing on 15th August.
6. Happy Phirr Bhaag Jayegi
Upcoming film, Happy PhirrBhagJayegi is a comedy drama with an ensemble cast of Jimmy Shergill, Sonakshi Sinha, Diana Penty, Jassi Gill, Ali Fazal, Piyush Mishra which is slated to release on 24thAugust. It is a sequel to a 2016 film Happy BhagJayegi. As the trailer suggests, it will be a light hearted family drama.
Directed by the Badlapur director, SriramRaghavan, AndhadhunstarrsAyushmannKhurrana, Radhika Apte, Tabu in the lead roles. It is an upcoming thriller film where the protagonist played by AyushmannKhurranais a blind pianist who faces mysterious events in his life giving room to the thrill in the movie. It will release on 31st August 2018.AyushmannKhurranareportedly also took 2 months training from a professional pianist, AkshayVerma to play this role to perfection.
Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi and AparshaktiKhurrana are all set to scare and make the audience laugh with their upcoming horror comedy film, Stree. It will release on 31st August. This will be Rajkummar Rao’s second movie to release in the same month.Stree is based on an unfortunately true superstition.
9. Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se
Dharmendra with his sons, Bobby Deol and Sunny Deolis bringing back the third instalment of the YamlaPaglaDeewana franchise this 31st August. Like the last two, this will also be an action comedy directed by Navaniat Singh. The movie also has a camoeo by none other than Salman Khan as Mastana.
Govinda, Sanjay Mishra and Varun Sharma’s comedy film will be releasing this month though the date is not yet decided. The movie’s posters look quite quirky and different. Varun Sharma is rumoured to be playing a water purifier salesman and Govinda, the dissatisfied customer. With this cast, the movie seems to be a laugh riot.
