1. Court (2014)
Chaitanya Tamhane’s Court is not like a regular Bollywood movie it’s certainly one of the best movies out there. It also won the National award. The story is about a social activist, who is believed to use his song to spread a wrong message, is arrested. He is alleged to incite sewage worker’s suicide as well.
Rajkumar Rao starrer Shahid should be on your must-watch list if you are interested in this genre. Award-winning director, Hansal Mehta’s movie is based on a true story and follows the life of Shahid Azmi. He was arrested on allegation of a conspiration against the state in 1994. He studied law while he was in jail and came out to become a criminal lawyer. He defended people who were accused of terrorism. The court scenes in this movie are authentic and brutally honest.
3. Damini (1993)
Sunny Deol’s dialogue “Tareekh pe Tareekh milti rahi hai, Lekin insaaf nahi mila” is one of the most famous dialogues in the history of cinema. This scene is so iconic that it can give you goosebumps.
4. Pink (2016)
Tapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Pink is a compelling film. It talks about real-life issues in such an intense manner that you forget you are watching a film. Everything seems so really and brutally honest with pitch-perfect characters. Amitabh Bachchan is playing the role of the lawyer in this one and he pulled off his character pretty well.
5. Jolly LLB (2012)
Jolly LLB is a very entertaining movie with Arshad Warsi playing the role of lawyer and Saurabh Shukla playing the role of judge. They both made the movie quite memorable for the audiences. What makes this movie different is that the makers have tried to show the real courtrooms of India. Movie shows, an underdog lawyer, Arshad Warsi, takes on a rich brat’s case, who had run over pavement dwellers after driving under the influence of alcohol.
This movie did wonders at the box office so the makers decided to come up with with more entertaining and hard hitting story in Jolly LLB 2. Akshay Kumar was the main person in this movie and he was exceptionally good as a lawyer. This movie is amusing and has a sad story which makes it a must-watch.
