List of 10 Bollywood Movies That Should Never Be Remade

Bollywood movies, good or bad find its own audience. With such a wide consumption of movies in India, the audience here has become more receptive than ever. Even though most of the movies fall in the bracket of run-off-the-mills, every once in a while, some movies remind us that Bollywood is not just that and does not deserve to be categorised. It has come a long way and has given us evergreen eternal movies. Film makers these days have been taking up these movies and are remaking them in order for them to work. Some work, some fail miserably but there are some movies which we don’t want the makers to even touch and ruin our memories. Enlisted down below are Bollywood movies that should never be remade.

 1. Andaz Apna Apna

Bollywood Movies

Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, two of the most loving actors in Bollywood came together to make Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Amar and Prem iconic characters and Andaz Apna Apna a classic. The movie was a commercial flop when it released but later got its due. Not just these two, the movie gave us our favourite villains Teja and Crime Master Gogo. The confusion, chaos and madness the primary characters Karishma, Raveena, Amar and Prem create cannot be redone and should not be even attempted. There were talks of a sequel a few years ago but I’m sure the fans are happy that the idea got shelved.

 2. Mother India

The brilliance of Mother India is unmatched even till date. Nargis plays the mother of Birju played by Sunil Dutt. The movie released in 1957 when the idea of making movies with a female protagonist was not very welcoming. It stands to be a cult film which beautifully brings forward the dilemma of a mother who ultimately takes the rebellious step and kills her son.

 3. Chupke Chupke

When the cast of a film is this good then the movie is bound to be a hit. Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s comedy drama starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore, Jaya Bachchan, Asrani and Om Prakash was a laugh riot. A strong script with no forced jokes is even loved by the Millennials. If given a choice to pick a movie between today’s comedy dramas and Chupke Chupke, any one would choose the latter.

 4. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge

As confessed by Shah Rukh Khan himself, Yash Raj made him the romantic hero that he is today. And one of the movies that have passed the test of time is Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Every kid on the block knows Amrish Puri’s dialogues, ‘Jaa Simran Jaa, jee le apni zindagi’ and ‘Aao Aao’. So, basically the Raj and Simran of Bollywood are better left alone.

 5. Jab We Met

Imtiaz Ali is known to make the best travel movies but it’s not just travel movies. The depth of each character is what touches millions. And Geet’s liveliness and Aditya’s innocence made this adventure a joy train ride, if you know what I mean. Anybody who will try to remake the characters will not be able to touch the depth and hence will fail. So, just don’t!

 6. Khosla Ka Ghosla!

This movie proves that no matter what, good content wins! Ranvir Shorey, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Vinay Pathak and each and every one in front of the camera was spewing perfection. A simple yet complicated story of a middle-class family whose land is grabbed illegally, tries to retrieve it by fooling the goon. Anupam Kher has done many memorable roles but the role of Mr. Khosla will always be among the best.

 7. Dil Chahta Hai

Before Farhan Akhtar was known as an actor, he was directing films and Dil Chahta Hai is his baby. It made Goa the ‘It’ destination for every young adult who was trying to figure out their future. Aamir Khan (Aakash), Akshaye Khanna (Siddharth) and Saif Ali Khan (Sameer) were and still are friendship goals for many. Three extremely different characters yet so perfectly in tune with each other.

 8. Pyaasa

Okay, not many of you reading this would have seen this movie. But if you haven’t, please do and you’ll agree with me that Pyaasa should definitely not be remade. There are good actors, there are legendary actors and then there is Guru Dutt. His talent can never be appreciated enough. Guru Dutt’s character in the film, Vijay can be seen yearning for love and watching him, you will feel it too. It has set really high expectations for the audience and rightly so!

 9. Rang De Basanti

Soha Ali Khan, Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Kunal Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Siddharth, Atul Kulkarni, all of them came together to create magic on-screen for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang De Basanti. The direction of the movie is par brilliance. From relatable characters they became what one would want to be, the change makers. It is funny, intense, heart touching, everything and at the same time very real. Replicating this successfully is impossible.

 10. Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron

A dark satire on Indian politics and the prevailing corruption told by a stellar cast of amazing actors Pankaj Kapur, Naseeruddin Shah, Ravi Baswani, Shobha Sen, Satish Shah, Om Puri and Satish Kaushik. An intelligent satirical comedy which was way ahead of its time. The camaraderie of the actors on-screen made this 1983 movie a delightful experience for the audience. Duplicating the success of this cult classic will be a useless attempt.
