There are many films in the Bollywood industry which have been shot but they have never been released. There are films of many successful superstars which have been kept on hold or called off. Some of the films of the film industry have also got their titles from these unreleased films like Khuda Gawah, Sarfarosh and others. Today, let’s check out the Bollywood movies that never released.
1. Sarfarosh (1979)
Sarforosh was going to release in the year 1979 in which Amitabh Bachchan and Mohan Desai had to come together. Along with Amitabh Bachchan, the film had to feature stars like Shakti Kapoor, Parveen Babli, Kader Khan and Rishi Kapoor. In this film Amitabh Bachchan had to play the role of a convict but sadly the film did not hit the theatres which was surely disappointing for the Bollywood fans.
2. Khuda Gawah (1978)
Khuda Gawah was a film which had to be released in the year 1978. In this film, Amitabh Bachchan was playing the role of a cowboy. Due to some reasons, the shoot of this was halted after some days. The fans were very excited to see Amitabh Bachchan as a cowboy in the film but unfortunately the film did not release. Later, the title of the film was used in the year 1992 in a film which featured Sridevi alongside Amitabh.
3. Time Machine (1992)
Time Machine was a film which had to release in the year 1992. The film was to feature Aamir Khan, Naseeruddin Shah and Raveena Tandon in the major roles. This film was based on a unique concept of time travelling. The director of the film was Shekhar Kapur and after completing 3/4th of the shooting, he called off this film. The fans were quite excited to witness such film but it did not release and so this news disappointed many Bollywood fans.
4. Zameen (1988)
Zameen was a Bollywood film which was supposed to release in the year 1988. This film had stars like Vinod Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi. The film was being directed by Ramesh Sippy but he had to leave the film in between because of some budget issues. The shooting of this film was incomplete and so this film was called off.
Bandhua was a film which had to release in the year 1989. This film had to feature the superstar Amitabh Bachchan in the major role along with Pooja Bedi and Waheeda Rehman. This fiilm was Amitabh Bachchan’s first film with J.P Dutta and the film was based on bonded labourers. The film had to be a Nadiawala’s production but then later it did not release in the theatres. The fans were very excited to see this superstar’s film in collaboration with J.P Dutta but unfortunately the things didn’t work and the film was called off.
6. Dus (1996)
Dus was a film which had to be released in the year 1996. This film had to feature the superstars, Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt in the major roles. The film was directed by Mukul Anand and Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt had to play the roles of Indian agents who had to stop an Indo-Pak war. The unexpected death of Mukul Anand was the reason why this film did not hit the big screen and it had be called off.
7. Munna Bhai Chale Amerika
Munnabhai franchise has surely been one of the best film franchise in Bollywood and it has been very well received by the Bollywood fans. It has surely earned a lot of money and went on to be very successful at the box office. The third edition of this amazing movie was planned and the name to it was ‘Munna Bhai Chale Amerika’. Even the trailer of this film was released in the year 2010 but later this film was called off. The fans were very excited after the release of its trailer but later they were very much disappointed as the film wasn’t released on the big screen.
8. Deva (1987)
Deva was a Subhash Ghai’s project which had to release in 1987. The film was to feature the superstar Amitabh Bachchan and the fans were eager to see Amitabh on the big screen in collaboration with Subhash Ghai but things turned the other way and the movie couldn’t release. According to the reports, there were some ego clashes between Amitabh and Subhash Ghai and so only after a week of shooting together, the film was shelved.
9. Tiger (1980)
Tiger was a film which had to release in the year 1980. The film was based on the disputes between two brothers and had to feature Amitabh Bachchan in the major role in it. According to the reports, the character of Amitabh Bachchan in the film ‘Khoon Pasina’ was the inspiration behind this title. This film was called off because of the arguments between the actors and the producers of the film. The news was definitely very disappointing at that time for the Bollywood fans.
10. Koochie Koochie Hota Hai
The film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ has been one of the best films of all time in the Bollywood history and went on to be a real success at the box office. The film featured Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Kajol in the lead roles and they all gained immense praise for their superb acting in the film. Considering this hit film, an animated version named ‘Koochie Koochie Hota Hai’ was made and even the trailer of this film was released in the year 2010. Things did not go well for this animated version of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and so the film was put on hold and hence, it never released.
