Being a Bollywood star is an exhausting job not just because of the long working hours and the fast-paced cut-throat competition but also because it demands you to be continuously interacting with your fans and be in touch with them in order to keep the fan base strong. With the advent of the internet and social media, it has become easier for people to contact their favourite celebrities online but on the other hand, it has also aired many trolls and added unnecessary pressure on the celebrities’ shoulder to be putting out the best in order to be validated. Some celebrities live on the internet, some find it fulfilling, some give in to this social media pressure but there are still a handful of Bollywood celebrities who are not on social. Here, we have cited a list of such Bollywood celebs who have managed to stay away.
1. Ranbir Kapoor
Rishi Kapoor is popular for his acting, his humour and his controversial tweets. His son, Ranbir Kapoor is also popular for his acting and his humour but he strictly differs from his father’s opinion about social media. He deliberately has chosen to stay away from the virtual world and all the social media platforms. In fact, during the promotions of his film, Tamasha, his social media absence was also used as a marketing gimmick which obviously trended on the internet.
2. Imran Khan
Imran Khan was last seen in a 2015 movie Katti Batti with Kangana Ranaut. Since then, he has been staying away from the camera and another thing he’s been staying away since forever is social media and believes that he doesn’t need any sort of validation from virtual followers on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
3. Kareena Kapoor
Though known to be the Gossip Queen of Bollywood, it is hard to believe that she is yet to make an official social media appearance. She may not be on either of the social media websites but she definitely appears on our Facebook walls every once in a while. Also, knowing everything about everyone in spite of being on the cloud is some talent, right!
4. Kangana Ranaut
You’ve to admit that Kangana Ranaut is different than others. She doesn’t shy away from speaking her mind and it is no secret that she feels that social media sites merely are places which make people display their loneliness. Well, I guess she doesn’t need any social media appearance to make a controversy, her emails are enough! Geddit, geddit? *wink wink*
5. Saif Ali Khan
Like his wife Kareena, Saif Ali Khan is also not on social media and likes it that way. The other three Khans sort of compete with the number of followers each of them has on Twitter but the Bollywood’s Nawab, Saif Ali Khan decided to not even join the race. To each his own!
6. Vidya Balan
Vidya Balan has always talked with her performances on-screen more than anything. She never paid heed to any redundant opinion about her in life and maybe that’s why she doesn’t need social media to validate her presence in the industry. Vidya Balan has been a boss and has made sure everybody also believe the same.
7. Aditya Chopra
Aditya Chopra – Owner of Bollywood’s most popular production house Yash Raj Films, has always been secretive about his personal life and likes to keep away from the media glare let alone the social media fancy. He has been made fun of quite a few times for many industry insiders joke about the mystery of his existence because of such secrecy but does it all matter to him?
8. Rani Mukherjee
Like her husband Aditya Chopra, Rani Mukherjee also believes in keeping her personal life private, hence, no social media presence. She understands her fans urges to join social media for them to connect with her, she joined for a short stint, only to promote her film ‘Hichki’.
9. Jaya Bachchan
The Bachchans have been media favourites as well as fan favourites. Where Amitabh Bachchan shares every other opinion on Twitter, where Abhishek Bachchan shuts down every troll on Twitter, where Aishwarya Rai just recently made a debut on Instagram as a gratitude to his fans, only Jaya Bachchan among the otherwise social media friendly Bachchans is left to join this virtual world. Guess she is keeping her sanity by keeping away the social media hassle.
10. Naseeruddin Shah
Naseeruddin Shah needs no introduction. This 68-year-old actor is an opinionated man who is known for his candour in and out of the industry. It would be really interesting to have him on the social media platform but guess he has other plans. He has a Facebook page but it is not sure who actually runs it.
Though the fans want their favorite celebrities on social media, at the end of the day it is their choice. To each his own, right!
