Cannes 2019 is all over the news. Along with the women from all over the world, Bollywood this year shone in number as it was brimming with faces from B-Town. Apart from a few regulars like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Sonam Kapoor who have been walking by the French Riviera for a couple of years now, this year had many others as well. Though Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, the Bollywood’s global beauties had the internet talking with their sparkling fashion at the Met Gala 2019, they also rocked their Cannes looks. Here’s a list of all the Bollywood celebs that were spotted at Festival de Cannes 2019 Red Carpet, have a look:
Priyanka Chopra has been doing this for a while, no, not just appearing with her husband at events, but also making it a statement. All of her Cannes 2019 related walks have gone viral on social media, but this one sure took the cake. The couple, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas came walking together in white. Priyanka’s gown looked like a wedding gown, but hey, we are not complaining. She chose to wear a gorgeous Georges Hobeika number and ascended the famous Cannes steps with Nick in tow. The couple also attended the screening of French drama film ‘Les Plus Belles Annees D’Une Vie’.
Deepika Padukone has walked The Cannes Film Festival a couple of times, this year only and each one of her looks was hugely appreciated. In a recent interview with Anupama Chopra, she said, either you come to Cannes with a film or you slay the Red Carpet. She sure slayed all of her looks. Representing L’Oreal, she wore Peter Dundas’ cream floor-length gown with a bow. Then, she hit the red carpet in a neon lime green Giambattista Valli gown accessorized with pastel colored head wrap by Emily London.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Aishwarya Rai is a Cannes veteran and this year too, at the 72nd The Cannes Film Festival, the 45-year actor owned the red carpet. She walked hand in hand with her little daughter Aaradhya Bachchan wearing a luminous neon Jean-Louis Sabaji Couture gown. Her Cannes buddy, Aaradhya wore a yellow princess gown making her not less beautiful than her mother.
Just like the two leading ladies, PC and DP, Kangana too made a few appearances at the event. Keeping it versatile between her looks, Kangana first donned a golden Kanjeevaram silk saree with an off-shoulded embellished golden Falguni and Shane Peacock corset blouse. And then, for her second walk, she opted for a custom Michael Cino off-shoulder gown with a long trail. Clad in this ethereal gown, her make up and winged eyes complimented the look perfectly.
Diana Penty made her Cannes debut this year and boy, did she make it count? Her debut look was stunning and she definitely brought her A-Game to the party. Diana opted for a beige colored off-shoulder gown detailed with fox feathers to add the right volume to the dress.
This was Huma Qureshi’s third Cannes appearance and this time, she appeared in a metallic grey gown designed by Gaurav Gupta. It featured a ruffled train which gave a look of a flowing river. Her dress was symbolic of the liquor brand she endorses, Grey Goose. She walked the red carpet looking confident and graceful.
Mallika Sherawat has been making a splash with her Cannes 2019 looks in private and was seen in photoshoots and giving interviews. Before her red carpet appearance, she teased her fans with her this year’s look. Clad in a shell pink off-shoulder number featuring semi-sheer black patterns on it by Yolancris, she stole the show with her look.
Okay, Sonam Kapoor hasn’t yet walked the red carpet but she is all set to braze the floor on May 20 and 21. The heavyweight fashion duo, Sonam and Rhea Kapoor are off to France and will make a grand entry soon. Talking to Rhea about Sonam’s dress this year, she said,
“I think this year we are going to focus on simplicity and elegance… It will be more on Sonam’s personality and where she is in her life right now. See, this is a very beautiful phase of her life where she is very happy, content and emotionally secure. So, it should come across in the clothes and the looks.”
Making everyone sit up, among these was also one of the hugely popular Hindi TV actor, Hina Khan, who too made a Cannes debut this year. She made waves in a sequined, shiny, shimmery gown during her first walk at the festival and now, for her second appearance, she chose to wear a dark grey metallic gown from Australian designer Alin Le’ Kal.
For designer Nachiket Barve, the Cannes Film festival, coming just after the Met Gala, has been all about high-impact dressing so far with everyone trying to max it up. He said,
“Nobody’s really playing it safe, and everyone’s amping it up. Whether the vibe is India fusion like Kangana’s corset sari or the lime green Giambattista Valli gown that Deepika wore, there is a sense of everything being maxed out,”
Designer Peter Dundas, whom Deepika wore at one of her appearances, talked about his plunging neckline, long slit with exaggerated sleeves’ cream gown and said,
“It’s not a silhouette that everyone can pull off. But her statuesque posture, exaggerated eye make-up and big pony finished beautifully to carry off such a risky dress and she did complete justice to it.”
