Indian Cinema Artists with civilian honors are as follows.
1. Satyajit Ray
Satyajit Ray is an Indian Filmmaker and is known for his humanistic approach to cinema. He was honored with France’s highest civilian award the ‘Legion of Honour’ at a function at the Calcutta Library in the year 1989.
The Shahenshah of Bollywood is known for his extraordinary acting skills. He has received many accolades for his exceptional career in the world of cinema. He was conferred with France’s highest civilian honor from the Government of France and is described as a “towering Indian personality” and the “number-one actor of Indian cinema”. He was also awarded a Medal of Honour of Morocco by Morocco’s King Mohammed.
3. Shah Rukh Khan
The Badshah of Bollywood aka Shah Rukh Khan is everyone’s favorite. He has a huge fan following in India and abroad. He was presented with the Knight of Legion of Honor for his exceptional career in Bollywood and contribution to cultural diversity across the world. He was also conferred with Morroco’s Medal of Honor in 2012.
4. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
The ultimate diva of Bollywood, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, was awarded the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the Ambassador of France in New Delhi, Jerome Bonnafont.
5. Kamal Hassan
Kamal Hassan is popularly known as one-man cinema, has been in the industry for over half a century. He has won the Henri Langlois Award in France for his performance as a child artist in his debut movie Kalathoor Kannamma in 1959. He was also conferred with the Knight Of the Order of Arts and Letters for his huge contribution to cinema.
6. Anurag Kashyap
Anurag Kashyap, a legendary director, was conferred with the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the government of France in the Cannes Festival in 2015.
7. Sajid Nadiadwala
Producer, Sajid Nadiadwala was awarded the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by Mr. Alexandre Ziegler, Ambassador of France for boosting Indo-French partnership in cinema.
8. Nandita Das
The powerhouse of talent, Nandita Das, was honored with the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by Jerome Bonnafont during her felicitation in Delhi.
9. Manish Arora
Manish is considered to be the exceptional ‘John Galliano’ of India. He is the first Indian Designer who was awarded the Legion of Honour by the French Ambassador to India, François Richier. He has designed costumes for movies like Veer Zara.
