Bollywood Action Man Akshay Kumar Becomes A Target Over Liking A Tweet Related To Jamia Protests

Twitter hate is on a nonstop basis sending hate comments for Akshay Kumar after he liked a tweet amidst Jamia Milia protests.

All the nation is currently discussing the protests in Jamia Milia Islamia that continued over the weekend. Jamia Milia students allege that police entered their campus and fired tear gas inside the library. As per the incoming reports, this police action was prompted by the violent protests by the students in the wake of the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act in parliament.

This being an issue that affects every Indian in one way or another. Twitter was divided when the time came to decide whether to go in support of or against the act being passed and also the protests taking place in Jamia Millia Islamia by the students.

One such Twitter user who goes by the name @desimojito shared a video from the protests and captioned it,

“Badhaai Ho… Jamia Mein Azaadi Mili Hai.”

This tweet was liked by Akshay Kumar.

As expected, being a celebrity Akshay Kumar’s every offline and online move is always under the scanner. So, when Akshay’s liking of this tweet came to notice. A segment of Twitter started trending #BoycottCandianKumar & his citizenship was once again subjected to questioning.

Akshay in time took to Twitter to get the situation under control and provided his reaction over liking this tweet. He tweeted,

“Regarding the ‘like’ on the tweet of Jamia Milia students, it was by mistake. I was scrolling and accidentally it must have been pressed and when I realised I immediately unliked it as In no way do I support such acts.”

As expected very soon, Twitter trended #ISupportAkshay stating that anybody could accidentally like a tweet.

Talking about these protests. In the latest happenings, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Delhi Police MS Randhawa released an official statement that read,

“All students detained from Kalkaji and New Friends Colony have been released.”

This appeal further stated,

“Delhi Police also appealed to the protesters to end their protest. Buses have also been arranged to drop the protesters. Injured students will also be released after treatment.”
