Batti Gul Meter Chalu Review: Shahid Kapoor Nails It With His Old School Charm!

Recently, Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer film, Batti Gul Meter Chalu has been released on the silver screen. The film has been directed by Shree Narayan Singh and it also features Yami Gautam in a major role along with Shahid and Shraddha. The film has been receiving a good response from the audiences and the critics and the plot of the film is being immensely praised by the cinema fans. This is the second time when Shraddha Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor are appearing together in a film. Before this film, they were seen together in ‘Haider’ which was also very well received by the Bollywood fans.

The film revolves around the issue of power cut and corruption in small towns. In the starting, the film shows a friendship triangle of SK (Shahid Kapoor), Lalita Nautiyal (Shraddha Kapoor) and Sundar Mohan Tripathi (Divyendu Sharma). These three friends become confused when it comes to love. Both SK and Sundar Mohan Tripathi are in love with Nauti but they don’t want their love to affect their friendship. Nauti is a small designer who desires to make it big in Mumbai. SK is an infamous lawyer who traps people who do unlawful things and he is shown quite clever. Tripathi owns a company which faces the problem of excessive billing.

Talking more about this film, the film has many things to show in parts. The first half is just dragged in parts because this film has many things to show which are completely in different directions. So, the film takes time to fall into places and so we can also say by this that the editing is quite lazy. Even the love triangle shown between SK, Nauti and Tripathi takes a lot of time on the screen than it should have taken.

The film was said to be based on social issues but the point comes very late in the film. The film takes a good time to adjust and then it brings out the issue of power cut. The acting of Shahid Kapoor is fabulous in the film and he completely nails it in the character of SK. His on-screen presence was commendable and he was a treat to watch on the silver screen. He plays a very interesting character which has been immensely praised by the Bollywood fans. Shahid Kapoor managed to retain his charm in the film and he completely outshines in this social comedy-drama film.

Even Shraddha Kapoor did a great job in this film and her acting has also received a very good response from the cinema fans. Before this film, she appeared in the film ‘Stree’ where her acting was just phenomenal and now again she is back on the silver screen with another charming performance. She looks really gorgeous on the screen and you’ll definitely love her on-screen presence in this film. Divyendu Sharma was also really amazing in this film and did a good job. In a previous interview with Koimoi, he told that he wants to try different stuff and it seems that he has proved it with this film.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu Review

Talking about the ratings of this film, it has been rated 3/5 by Times of India, 3.5/5 by DNA and 8.3/10 by IMBD. The film is really being loved by the Bollywood fans and it is being stated that the film will open to Rs 5 Cr. business at the box office on its first day. The concept of the film is definitely going to touch your heart and the Jodi of Shraddha Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor once again turns out to be a really great one. The direction of the film is a little bit unorganized in the starting but then Shree Narayan Singh does a great job by bringing it back on the track. This Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer film turns out to be really good and you can definitely think of watching this social comedy-drama film. It’s a thumbs up for ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’!
