Amit Sharma who directed Ayushmann Khurrana in 2019 blockbuster: Badhaai Ho, feels that Salman Khan and Sohail Khan starter, Tubelight, a Kabir Khan directorial is overrated. In other words, Amit could have done a better job with the film. Tubelight was Salman Khan’s third project with director Kabir Khan.
Badhaai Ho director Amit Sharma, in a recent media talk, pointed fingers at Salman Khan and Sohail Khan starrer Tubelight and called it an overrated film saying that he would have done a better job of directing it. As per BollywoodLife, Amit Sharma revealed this fact while answering some questions in Zee Cafe’s show Starry Nights Gen Y. When Amit was asked to name a recent overrated film that he has watched and one film that he would have directed better, he named Tubelight.
In recent times, a lot of big-budget flicks (Shah Rukh Khan’s: Zero) with big stars have fallen flat on box office, as unlike the past, box audiences now carry a strong desire of getting quality entertainment whenever they enter theatres. Famous faces no more can fetch you big money at the box office. Those days are over.
Coming back to Tubelight and Amit Sharma. For the unaware, Tubelight was helmed by Kabir Khan who had collaborated with Salman in two films in the past namely Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Ek Tha Tiger. Tubelight’s plot was picked up from the 2015 film Little Boy and was reimagined against the backdrop of the India-China war of 1962.
Meanwhile, Amit’s film Badhaai Ho was amongst one of the most successful flicks of 2019, speaking about it, Amit said,
“The one thing I knew about the movie was that it was a beautiful script and I have to do justice to this. My background is advertising and because of this, I keep looking for ideas. I never really thought that a certain thing wouldn’t work because ‘Badhai Ho’ had a lot of big ideas.”
