Though Bollywood is often accused of nepotism, run off the mill stories and a lot of mediocrity, things are changing. There is better content coming in, more perspectives are being welcomed and more relatable actors are becoming stars. Bollywood has gone global too with Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. But before the so-called art cinema became commercial cinema, and before PC or DP went to Hollywood, one star had done it all, achieved it all, and had nailed it all, Irrfan Khan. He deserves way more than what he is credited for.
Irrfan Khan is one such star who loves cinema and loves the craft of acting more than anything. And his choice of roles is an example of this. Paan Singh Tomar, Hindi Medium, Blackmail, Piku, Karwaan, Lunchbox, Madaari, Talvar are just a few of his brilliant body of work in Bollywood. Since last year, he was taking treatment for his rare disease Neuroendocrine Tumor in the UK and now, after beating cancer and healing completely, he is back to his home, Mumbai, to Bollywood.
Irrfan Khan took to Twitter to share the news of his return and wrote a heartfelt message for everyone supporting him in his bad time. He also went on to say how we often miss out on the importance of being loved. Being grateful, this is what he posted:
“Maybe somewhere in the pursuit of winning, we forget how much it means to be loved. In our vulnerability, we are reminded. As I leave my footprints onto these steps of my life, I want to pause to be grateful for receiving your immense love and support. It soothed me in my process of healing. So I travel back to you, thanking you from the bottom of my heart,”
Just as our Bollywood celebs got to know of his return, they too welcomed him and expressed their joy with heartwarming posts.
AndhaDhun actor Ayushmann Khurrana tweeted:
”Dear sir, you are my hero!”
From one stellar actor to a great performer, Randeep Hooda wrote:
”So so true .. Welcome back brother.”
Ever active on Twitter, Swara Bhasker wished him luck and wrote:
”Welcome back @irrfank sir! Wish you health and happiness.. you are our inspiration,”
Irrfan’s Haider co-star, Kay Kay Menon posted:
Welcome back brother!!! @irrfank
Vinay Pathak, who worked with Irrfan in Aaja Nach Le also expressed his happiness and shared:
”This is the best news I’ve heard in ages ! Supremely happy and thrilled! Welcome back Monsieur! @irrfank.”
This sure is the best news we have heard today and everyone along with the stars seems to be elated. He was missed on the big screen majorly and we are just waiting for him to make an appearance soon. Reportedly, he will soon begin shooting for Hindi Medium sequel with Kareena Kapoor in London.
Until then, just to revive good old memories, watch one of his movies and enjoy!
