Shahid Kapoor’s Bollywood Blockbuster: Kabir Singh, is a Hindi remake of Vijay Deverakonda starrer Telugu hit Arjun Reddy. But surprisingly, Vijay isn’t interested in watching Kabir Singh. Here’s the reason.
Doing a box office business of over 250 INR crore till date, Shahid Kapoor’s latest offering Kabir Singh has entered the elite category of blockbusters. It has Kiara Advani as female lead and is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who had also directed the original Telugu film Arjun Reddy starring Vijay Deverakonda as the protagonist.
Vijay even after wishing Kabir Singh a great success, doesn’t seem too keen on watching the Hindi remake of his film starring Shahid Kapoor as Kabir Singh.
During a promotional event of his upcoming flick, Dear Comrade, Vijay was asked if he has watched Kabir Singh.
A CinemaExpress quoted him as saying,
“Shahid has done that film, and he has gone through the character, and there is nothing for me to watch it again. I know the story, I have done that film, why will I watch again?”
He further said,
“I wanted the Hindi film to be a big hit because Sandeep is my man. But unexpectedly, it became a blockbuster. Done. No more discussion there.”
It seems that Hindi version of his flick making it big as compared to the business the original one did, hasn’t gone well with Vijay.
On the other hand, despite both flak and criticism by film critics, Kabir Singh’s movement at box office is still going smooth. There are reports that post Kabir Singh’s success, Shahid Kapoor has increased his remuneration.
A Mumbai Mirror report suggested that the actor who was earlier charging Rs 30 crore for a film, has now hiked his fee to Rs 35 crore!
When it comes to the film’s story, it is the incomplete love story of a talented male surgeon and a female student. Both of whom cannot be each other’s soulmates for life, as the female gets married to someone else against her wishes.
