Anurag Kashyap Explores Dark Days of Demonetization With ‘Choked’

We all know very well that Anurag Kashyap is one of those Bollywood celebrities cum Indian citizens who have their own view with justification when it comes to the policy decisions of authorities. He carries a strong belief that an elected government should always be answerable to its subjects.

Coming back to Choked and demonetization. Saiyami Kher plays the female lead in this Netflix Original Movie.

The trailer of ‘Choked’ has been unveiled and the film explores the topic of demonetization right at its core. The story revolves around ‘Mirzya’ actor Saiyami Kher, who stumbles upon an unlimited supply of money in her own kitchen.

Just when this lady has become a millionaire, she comes face to face with an unexpected situation i.e demonetization, which was imposed to deal with every kind of black money. Stuck in a wedding with a good-for-nothing husband, how Saiyami Kher manages the situation as a bank cashier loaded with money, would be an interesting watch.

Anurag Kashyap has given his best to tap into the genre of the dark world. The movie is his 2nd project with Netflix in 2020, after collaborating with Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee on ‘Ghost Stories’. Before that, Kashyap had collaborated with Netflix for ‘Sacred Games’ and ‘Lust Stories’.

Apart from Saiyami and Roshan Mathew, the movie also features Amruta Subhash and Rajshri Deshpande in the supporting roles. Soon after the trailer of ‘Choked’ was unveiled, filmmakers like Nikkhil Advani, Hansal Mehta, and Anubhav Sinha congratulated Anurag and his team for their work.

Talking about demonetization, this was an exercise that happened for the 2nd time in Independent India. 1st time it happened when INC was at the center and 2nd time it happened when BJP took control at the center.
