While awaiting the release of his movie Pati, Patni Aur Woh. Kartik has become one of the most desired actors in Bollywood & the proof of that is him stepping into the shoes of superstar Akshay Kumar for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.

Is This A Bhool Bhulaiyaa Sequel?

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 director Anees Bazmee cleared the air on the same.

During his F2F with Mid-Day, Bazmee revealed that Kartik & Kiara’s film is nothing like Akshay Kumar-Vidya Balan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a ‘ghost story’ unlike the original version which was a psychological thriller, the Kartik-Kiara film doesn’t even begin where the previous film came to an end.

These were his words,

“Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) was a psychological thriller, but the second outing is a ghost story. It does not take off from where the first part ended. It is a different tale, with a fresh set of actors.”

He said that filmmakers were eager to revive the franchise and thus they went ahead with the name.

“We had to live up to the title, so there had to be some common elements. Bhool Bhulaiyaa is used to describe a maze, so the film has to be set in a sprawling haveli with several pathways.”

Talking about the inspiration behind Bhool Bhulaiyaa. It was originally made as to the remake of Malayalam film, Manichitrathazhu, which was a 1993 box office release.

Talking about Bazmee’s other flicks. His latest multi starrer box office release Pagalpanti made a box office debut on 22nd November 2019. But despite an ensemble cast that included both old and new Bollywood names like Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Ileana D’Cruz, Arshad Warsi, Urvashi Rautela, Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda & Saurabh Shukla, the film turned out to be a huge disappointment.
