It has been quite a while now since rumors have been afloat that Akshay Kumar will be doing the remake of Tamil blockbuster Kanchana. While in the absence of an official announcement from the concerned personnel, there is another addition in these rumors that Kiara Advani will romance the Khiladi of Bollywood in this horror comedy. The film will be directed by Raghava Lawrence, who was both the director and a cast member in its original version. As reports suggest, the film is set to go in production phase by late April and will be in theatres in the first quarter of 2020. It’s supposed to be named as Lakshmi.
Good News is another one of Akshay Kumar and Kiara’s Bollywood upcoming project, but Lakshmi would be their first one as an on-screen couple. Reliable sources confirmed Kiara’s casting, leaving aside only the formalities that are being worked out. Post completion of Good News, Akshay will begin working on Lakshmi. Kanchana’s remake has been on Akshay’s mind for a while now and his dreams have finally become a reality.
After that, Mission Mangal will be Akshay Kumar’s next Bollywood Mission. It is a joint venture of Akshay’s Cape of Good Films, Fox Star Studios and Padman helmer, R Balki that will be directed by Jagan Shakti. Based on India’s Mars Mission, it has a star cast that includes Sharman Joshi, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menen in pivotal roles. The film is set to open to theatres on Independence Day this year i.e. 15th August. Giving it a competition on ticket sales counter will be John Abraham’s Batla House and Prabhas’ Saaho.
Meanwhile, Kiara’s next project will be Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh. It is an official remake of Telugu hit Arjun Reddy. A joint production venture of Cine1 Studios and T-Series, it will hit theatres on June 21, 2019.
