Bollywood’s Singham i.e. Ajay Devgn turned 50 today. On the eve of this special occasion, the actor made public the trailer of his upcoming film ‘De De Pyaar De’ that also stars Tabu and Rakul Preet in the lead cast. The film is about a 50-year-old man who falls in love with a girl that is half his age. Then hilarious incidents follow in order to keep the public glued to their seats in theatres with this comedy.
While the trailer portrayed Ajay in a refreshing avatar and has some really funny dialogues, there was something about the movie’s cast that caught everyone’s attention, but not in an appreciable way, Alok Nath’s appearance in the trailer.
During the launch, Luv Ranjan was asked to comment on Alok Nath’s casting in the film. Taking the matter into his own hands, Ajay asked him (Luv Ranjan) to get down from the stage and answered it by himself. He said,
“This is not the right place to talk about it. And the shooting sequences for the film were completed prior to (sexual misconduct case of Alok Nath).”
For those who aren’t aware of the inside story, here’s a quick look over,
Alok Nath was accused in the #MeToo controversy that took the entertainment industry by storm last year. Several women came out one by one in a series of events that revealed Bollywood’s decades-old, Babuji’s real and unhidden face. This face was in contrast to what he was believed to be until now. Some of the allegations went like this.
Veteran writer-producer Vinita Nanda had made rape allegations against him. Soon, more women came forward with their stories of sexual harassment by him. Alok Nath was granted an anticipatory bail after a court session. Ironically, a few weeks ago, there were reports that Alok Nath will be cast in a film titled ‘Main Bhi’ where he will be seen portraying the role of a judge who takes a strong stand against sexual harassment.
It looks like an old saying stands strong till date, that when it comes to money, justice gets a backstage seat. But Bollywood’s unjustified ignorance will hit hard in coming times.
Meanwhile, De De Pyaar De is set to release on May 17, 2019.
